What
Ever Happened to Divine Love?

For
the last thirty years pundits, scientists,
academics and religious leaders have been
sounding the warning bell: our world is
in crisis and time is running out before
we destroy the conditions on the planet
that allow life to exist and flourish.
One might think that people would be out
on the streets en masse demanding that our
leaders do something to mobilize the global
community to leap into action to save the
planet. Instead, the media reports stories
of corporate scandal, record high corporate
profits, outsourcing, a questionable war
in Iraq, governments acting against their
peoples’ best interests, and nations
deeply divided along political, social,
economic and religious lines.
Why hasn’t a leader emerged who speaks
with enough conviction, passion, truth and
wisdom to create the unity that is necessary
to avoid global disaster? Perhaps we know
intuitively that finding one person to do
this is not the solution. Perhaps the leadership
this world needs is reading this article
right now.
The way to lasting unity is to connect with
something that we all share. Golden Blossom
Projects International was founded on the
belief that the thing that we all share
which will bring us together is Divine love.
It is possible for each and every one of
us to reconnect to our Divine birthright.
That birthright goes beyond what any nation
state has legally codified as its citizens’
fundamental rights of existence. This is
true even for the one founded on the unalienable
rights of life, liberty and the pursuit
of happiness.
Divine
love is not romantic, sentimental or partial.
It is not based on fulfilling a desire nor
is it possessive. Divine love is timeless.
It exists independently of any conditions
or beliefs. It is based on patience, kindness
and tolerance for the numerous varieties
that is the Creation. It believes that we
can reach our highest potential regardless
of what happened in the past. Divine love
makes room for all paths to God.
Divine love is rooted in unconditional acceptance
of who we are. One’s skills, intellect,
beliefs, physical ability, social status,
financial standing, physical appearance
and personality do not matter in the eyes
of the Creator. The Creator sees through
the particulars to the essence of who we
are: loving beings who feel great joy and
deep satisfaction serving our fellow brothers
and sisters. In New York City, the days
after 9/11 showed us that it is possible
to cut through the particulars that tend
to divide us and return to unity through
putting loving service first. That outpouring
of good will was a reflection of how deeply
people connected to their hearts and the
natural urge to help others in need out
of love and nothing else.
Divine love is felt in God’s unconditional
acceptance. The unconditional acceptance
that is part of our birthright is linked
to the feminine, or Mother, aspect of God.
A mother who loves a child deeply accepts
the child regardless of what he or she has
done. A mother sees through the behaviors,
even very negative ones, and connects to
the heart of her child who she knows beyond
the actions of a given day. She does not
condone bad behavior nor condemn her child
for it. A mother thrives on nurturing her
child to his or her full potential. The
Divine Mother wants to see all of her children
reaching their full potential and living
in harmony with our many differences.
God accepts each of us with the mix of conflicting
thoughts, desires, beliefs and actions that
make up a human being. The Divine knows
the purity in our hearts that is our birthright.
By reconnecting with the knowing that we
are accepted as we are, we can be free to
live as we were meant to be: living lives
of service that reflect our highest potential.
What will it take to reclaim our Divine
birthright? It will take the willingness
on our part to let go of our own agendas
rooted in personal gain to make room for
living a Divine agenda rooted in loving
service. Most people know the deep satisfaction
one feels after helping someone out. That
satisfaction is greater than the satisfaction
felt when one succeeds for personal gain.
That is because helping someone connects
you to your heart and to the Divine love
that links us together. Imagine living a
life where that kind of satisfaction is
your normal experience!
Divine love is not owned by any religion
or spiritual group. Claiming it does not
require special membership or belief in
any creed. It is what unifies all of us
spiritually on a very deep level. Our world
is crying out for leadership based on fundamentals
that go beyond any special interests, whether
they are personal or collective. That leadership
will come from each of us. More and more
of us need to take leadership roles that
model enhancing life and not destroying
it. Are you ready? The stakes could not
be much higher.
